Oral
history research captures the fleeting spoken and visual memories
of ordinary and not-so-ordinary people. Through direct field recordings,
photography and videotaping we create a lasting record of local
culture, history, and cultural processes which might otherwise go
undocumented and therefore be forgotten.
The
Italian Oral History Institute is a non-profit community-based research
and public education organization. Its purpose is to collect, preserve,
and make accessible materials relating to the culture and history
of Italians in California.
